Vacancy 1: Early Career Representative for the Society of Computational Humanities Research (SCHR)
The Society of Computational Humanities Research (SCHR) is seeking an Early Career Representative to join its board. This newly established role is dedicated to representing the interests of early career researchers within the Society. As Early Career Representative, you will act as a bridge between the Society and the early-career research Computational Humanities Research community, ensuring their perspectives are heard and their needs addressed. This is a remote volunteer position for a minimum of one year with the possibility of extension for another year. The estimated workload for this role includes bi-monthly meetings, and an average commitment of approximately one day of work per month, though this may vary throughout the year.
Key responsibilities include:
- engaging with early career researchers to gather feedback;
- promoting opportunities to showcase their work at the annual CHR conference;
- fostering connections between the Society and the next generation of scholars.
Eligibility: Applicants must either be current PhD students or have completed their PhD within the past four years, and be affiliated with a research institution at the time of application. Vacancy 2: Proceedings Officer for the Society of Computational Humanities Research (SCHR)
The Society of Computational Humanities Research (SCHR) is seeking a dedicated Proceedings Officer to join its board. This new role is vital to the effective dissemination of research presented at the annual CHR conference. As Proceedings Officer, you will oversee the end-to-end process of creating the conference proceedings, including coordinating with programme chairs, authors and editors to ensure timely publication. This role involves managing workflows, maintaining quality standards, and working closely with the platform where the proceedings will be published. This position is remote and voluntary, with a minimum commitment of one year and the possibility of extension for another year. The estimated workload for this role includes bi-monthly meetings, and an average of approximately 1.5 days of work per month, though this may fluctuate throughout the year, with peaks in the two to three months preceding the conference (September–November). This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented and organized individual who is passionate about advancing computational humanities research and ensuring that high-quality work is accessible to the scholarly community. The Proceedings Officer will contribute to the Society’s broader mission of fostering methodological rigor and inclusivity in humanities research.
Eligibility: Applicants must be affiliated with a research institution at the time of application and preferably have experience with or interest in managing editorial processes. Also, experience with LaTeX and Overleaf is a requirement.
