Highlights of ARoS Art Museum
Situated in the heart of Aarhus, ARoS is one of Denmark's largest and most celebrated art museums. A must-see is Olafur Eliasson’s Your Rainbow Panorama, the museum’s rooftop installation that offers breathtaking views of the city through a vibrant, rainbow-colored walkway. It has become an iconic landmark of Aarhus and provides a stunning blend of architecture and art. ARoS houses an extensive collection of Danish and international works, ranging from contemporary art to historic pieces. Be sure to check out some of the current exhibitions during your visit, including Sky Gazing, which delves into humanity's eternal fascination with the sky across different cultures and art periods; World in Focus, celebrating photography and the way it challenges our perceptions; and Ron Mueck - Art and Life, showcasing Ron Mueck’s monumental hyperrealist sculptures.
One of the museum's most famous works is Boy, a 4.5-meter tall sculpture by Ron Mueck that has captivated visitors since its debut at ARoS in 2004. Weighing an impressive 500 kg, Boy astounds with its hyper-realistic detail. The exhibition also features Mueck’s A Girl and Woman with Shopping, inviting you to contemplate the human body and the powerful themes of birth, life, and the tension between everyday experiences and extraordinary moments.
Why Visit ARoS?
A visit to ARoS is more than just viewing art—it’s a chance to engage with creativity, reflect on the themes explored in the exhibitions, and find inspiration. The museum provides a peaceful space to unwind and recharge during your stay. And if you need a break from all the art, the museum café and shop are beautifully decorated for the Danish Christmas season, offering a festive atmosphere to enjoy.
